High School Diploma Program

The HSD program is built to get you to graduation while respecting your life, work, and schedule. We require a total of 130 credits for graduation, distributed across core academic subjects and electives.

Getting Started: Enrollment Details

We are here to make your enrollment process as smooth as possible. Please follow these steps to join our program:

  • New Students: Click the button above to visit our portal and select "Create Account" to begin your enrollment application.

  • Returning Students: Please log in to your existing account using your established credentials to view your profile and sign up for new courses.

• The Placement Test: After you register, you will be required to take a placement test. This assessment is not graded; it is simply a tool to help us identify your current skill levels so we can place you in the class that provides the right level of support for your goals.

• Counselor Meeting: After your placement test, you will meet with our counselor to review your score, discuss your personal goals, and finalize your placement into the appropriate class. 

• The 12-Hour Rule: Please note that students must complete a minimum of 12 hours of instruction at Visalia Adult School to be considered an enrolled student before earning their diploma.

Note: Please allow approximately 1–2 hours to complete the placement test and counselor meeting process.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Need help with the portal? If you have any trouble creating an account or navigating the portal, please come into our office for assistance. 

• Is there a cost? No. All high school diploma classes at our school are completely tuition-free.

• What should I bring to the test? Please bring a photo ID/DL to the placement test. Arrive early as testing starts exactly at your schedule time. 

• Can I get credit for working? Yes! Work experience may be used for credit recovery in lieu of elective credits for the high school diploma program. Click here to download the Work Experience Form. You can submit pay stubs with it or have an employer fill it out. 

• How long will it take? Time to completion depends on the number of credits you have remaining from your previous high school. Your counselor will provide an exact timeline during your meeting. 

• How do I request my transcripts? 

  • If you attended one of our high schools within Visalia Unified prior to 2009: All VUSD high schools use Parchment to process transcript requests. Please visit Parchment.com to submit your request and have it sent to our office. 

  • If you attended a school outside of the district: Please have your previous school or your transcript service (such as Parchment) send an official copy directly to vasinfo@vusd.org.

  • Need help obtaining your transcripts? If you are having trouble getting your records, please do not let that stop you from registering! Come into our office in person, and we can help you complete a request form so we can assist in requesting them on your behalf. 

  • IMPORTANT: To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the school or service; we cannot accept transcripts that have been forwarded from the student.
