Which test is right for me?

While both tests serve the same purpose, they have differences in format that may better suit your personal strengths.

Ultimately, whether to take the HiSET or GED is up to you.

Department of Education Statement

Pro-Tip: The best way to decide is to take a practice test. You can find free official practice materials on the respective GED® and HiSET® websites, or contact our office to discuss your options.

GED®: A comprehensive, computer-based exam covering four subject areas. It is widely recognized and ideal if you are comfortable with computer-based testing.

Spanish GED®: The same official GED® exam, offered entirely in Spanish. This pathway allows you to demonstrate your mastery of high school-level knowledge and skills in your native language.

HiSET®: Offers a traditional structure with five subject areas (separate Reading and Writing sections). This can be a great option if you prefer a focused approach to individual subject areas.

Accommodations & Military

  • Military Service: All branches of the U.S. Military accept applicants with a GED® or HiSET® credential. Because requirements can vary by branch (and may include ASVAB scores), we strongly recommend contacting a military recruiter for the most current information.

  • Testing Accommodations: We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Approval must be handled online directly through the testing service:
