English as a Second Language
Visalia Adult School's ESL program is designed to help students improve their English language skills in speaking, reading, and writing. Classes also incorporate U.S. government, history, and civics to support students pursuing higher education, vocational training, and career advancement.
Our ESL classes are open-entry/open-exit, allowing students to enroll and progress at their own pace. Instructors use a variety of teaching methods to support different learning styles and ensure student success.
Through ESL classes, students can
- Build skills needed for employment
- Become more involved in their children's education
- Communicate effectively about family health needs
- Participate in community activity
- Develop citizenship and civic engagement skills

For new enrollments, placement tests are administered on Tuesdays at 4pm at the locations listed below.
